WOOT! Stock MMS hacked onto my IPhone 2g on Tmobile

If you are like me and thought it was strange that Apple made the MMS option unavailable for the first generation of IPhones and thought WTF, why?? Then you are in luck. It would be understandable if the MMS option needed the extra processing power of the new IPhone 3gs or something, but when they said that MMS would only be available to 3g and 3gs, it was a real slap in the face of early adopters. Since the 3g is basically the same as the 1st gen IPhone  I thought WTF and figured the only reason is because those bastards at Cupertino are trying to make more money and screw the early adopters once again (Remember the immediate price drop for the first gen?)

But now thanks to geniusan, the first gen IPhone owners can be made whole. Here are the steps I took and hopefully it will work for you too.

I have 3.0 firmware unlocked and jailbroken through Redsnow.

First Gen IPhone 16gb **(The 3G IPhones may brick when using this)**
Tmobile
5.99 Tzones

1. First open up cydia and find and install the “ActivateMMS2g” from iSpazio

2. Then Reboot Phone

3.  then Settings> General> Network> Cellular Data Network, (Make sure data roaming is on) and configure the MMS options

4. My settings for MMS are:

APN: epc.tmobile.com (Make sure this APN is the same as the “Cellular Data” APN above or else it won’t stick) (Other people use other APNs and claims it works too (wap.voicestream.com or something, I’m just posting whatever works for me)
Username: (Intentionally Blank)
Password: (Intentionally Blank)
MMSC: mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080

5. After that it should work, I would reboot again for the heck of it and you should see the new camera icon in the messaging app.

Sent and Received… suck it Apple…

My IPhone has caught LCD Cancer!

So yesterday…

I was wearing my hoody while driving my dad’s big blue Econoline 350. When I jumped off the driver seat and upon landing, my IPhone popped out and landed smack dab on the concrete. I feared for the worse even though I had some protection on my phone. A Cozip case I bought from Amazon and the Power Crystal film protecting the glass. I hoped and hoped that it would have provided enough protection against the 5 foot drop… but when I picked up my phone with its back facing up and flipped it over,  it wasn’t the case.

At first glance, what appeared to be a slight crack on the phone in actuality was just some dust from the concrete and it was easily brushed off. I was elated and prepared to write glowing reviews for the Power Crystal film. But… as time went on, i noticed a small spec on the top left side of my phone near the impact point my phone had took. It looked like an dead pixel on the LCD, which I thought was weird because the glass was completely fine. I thought oh well it was a small price to pay for that drop and was pretty whatever about it since I planned to get a new IPhone 3.0 in the summer. Things however didn’t stay that way. The situation was exacerbated as time went on, the dying pixels grew.

From what was a tiny 1 or 2 millimeter spec has grown to a horizontal line that stretches across the entire screen of my phone and whats worse, it has grown to the vertical line directly below it and is spreading.  I guess its just time to face it. My Iphone 1.0 has LCD cancer and is slowly dying out. Hopefully it can last another 3 months so I can buy its grandson. If not I might have to get *gasps* a blackberry curve 8900 from Tmobile.
